O is for Odie

O is for Odie. Odie was my Yorkshire Terrier that I had for 14 years. We had a break-in one night, so I immediately bought this little watch dog. He was a real terror with anyone outside. Once someone came into the house he treated people kindly. One evening a neighbor called the police saying there was a ferocious dog in the neighborhood and gave my address. Odie was never outside without being on his lease. When the cop arrived he sat in his car for awhile looking around for this beast that had been described to him. When he thought it was safe for him to get out of the car, he came up to my door and rang the bell. When I answered he asked if I was Linda and did I have a dog. I said yes. He asked where he was at this time. I opened the door a little further and he could see Odie sitting there looking at him. The officer said no, I mean the ferocious one. I told the officer Odie was my only dog.

The officer stepped inside and closed the door because it was cold outside. Odie came running to meet him and found Odie was very gentle. We began talking and I learned he knew my Daddy and lived closed to where Daddy grew up. After talking for about a half hour the officer said he would write this up as a prank call and would tell the other officers to ignore any further calls that may come in about Odie.

I had some weird neighbors where I use to live. People just loved calling the police every time someone would sneeze. How could anyone think this sweet little dog was ferocious! Odie lived for 14 years and is now resting peacefully in the family cemetery.

What a sweety pie...

But, in fairness, it's been my experience that little dogs can be far worse than the big ones if they have a tendancy to nip!

Aw, what a sweetie pie! Yep, definitely looks like a big and scary menace (kidding, of course). Thanks for sharing your Odie with us, and I am glad he brought you joy.

I understand about your camera. You see mine lives in my purse right along with my cell phone. They only come out to get charged. Guess that is the only way that i have them when I need them.

Hi Linda,

Odie was adorable. My daughter had a Yorkie for 12 years, her name was Chaucer. She wasn't vicious either, but she did think she was mighty dog! One had to keep her on a leash outdoors, because when she saw another dog, she would want to run to it, barking furiously. As little as she was, she could have been badly hurt by a large dog, so the leash was for own protection.

Very sweet story, and funny that people would call the police and report Odie as a vicious dog!

I enjoyed this post. Hope you are doing great!

Renie

PS. I got myself a memory card reader today, and it works perfectly! WOOHOO! No more uploading problems.

Odie is such a cute doggie and what a sweet story about him. That was a nice take for today's theme, much better than the one I came up with.

Hope your week is going well so far, Linda

Thank you for your visit and the comment you left behind. Please drop by any time. Coffee is always in the pot and the welcome mat is always out.

What a sweet liitle dog. Makes you wonder how boring someones life must be to find the need to call and complain about such a sweet little fella as Odie.

Linda, Odie is adorable! It's amazing how some people have nothing better to do than try to cause aggrevation for others.

I hope you have a great day!
