This is not a humbug post about Valentine's Day, but a gentle reminder to be kind to those that do not have the "love of their life" in their world.

Valentine's Day can be the hardest day of the year for single women. It's a day of flowers, cards, chocolates and other expressions of love and affection. If you don't have this special person in your life it can be a time of loneliness and depression.

I know this first hand. I was divorced when I was in my early 30's and Valentine's Day became a nightmare for me. At work all the ladies would receive expressions of love from their sweetie while my desk sat empty. Some women can be so cruel to their fellow sisters!!! Since then Valentine's Day has ranked right up there with National Pancake Day, which was earlier this week. Don't get me wrong, I'm an extremely romantic person, but Valentine's Day is my least favorite day. Sure I receive the traditional flowers and chocolates from hubby, but I'd be just as happy with a waffle iron.

Regardless of my personal opinions about Valentine's Day, I hope all my blogging buddies have a happy day, and if you are still in the workforce, be kind to those who will not be celebrating this day.

I am FIRST!! WOW!! I hardly ever make it FIRST!!
Yes, I can understand what you are saying. i felt that way when I was at work but more than that i felt so sorry for my friend. her hubby thinks it is a waste of money to purchase flowers at Valentines Day. She calls him a scrooge. But she and I would go down to where they come in and watch and look!! We had dozens and dozens delivered on that day.
Hope you have a great Valentines Day. I am going to work..UGH!! Sandy

The kids at school like to call this day single appreciation day.

I still the idea we had back when we were kids, and send valentines to our friends-to this day I still send one to my best friend.

I personally feel that the powers to be made this holiday too commercialized-and made a mockery of love-since I feel we should appreciate it on a daily basis, and not be made to feel guiltyHubby) or upset(wifie) if there are no diamond necklaces...

although with that said, I would never pass up a good romantic dinner due to my above stated conviction.

People in the work force can be very cruel. I know that first hand. I pray you are in a good relationship now and are happy.

Hi Linda, Valentine's day is not a big deal at my house neither..I don't want Fred wasting money on flowers that only last a few days.It was fun as a kid to give valentines to my friends and get chocolate candy to eat...My grandkids here in Atlanta had fun today and I enjoyed watching them get excited about their cards..My daughter had a rough day today, as she over did it with too much activity...It will be two weeks on Saturday since her c/s and she forgets that she had major surgery. How is Nicole doing ? when do you get to go back and visit and love on your granddaughter?
Well Linda I am keeping you up too late.I have been thinking of you often..Show us some new pictures of your sweet baby when you can..she is so precious....
Talk to you later.Hugs, Baba
