Heads or Tails

This week's word is Explore.

My very first thoughts about this week’s word Explore, is watching my grandbabies explore everything. Once their little eyes begin to focus, watching them explore their own hands and feet is exhilarating. “What is this thing passing by my face?”

Soon they begin to explore their binkie, rattles, and stuffed toys from the safe environment of their crib or pack and play. Before you know they are in the floor exploring the electrical outlets, pots and pans, the VCR and everything else they are not suppose to touch.

It is our natural instinct to explore throughout our lives. Being a blogger, and the wonderful information highway called the internet, affords me the opportunity to explore other countries, space, the human body, the rain forest or any other place. Goggle maps allows me to explore most major cities throughout the world. It’s exciting to be able to take a walk down Broadway in NYC or wonder around the street of Paris all from the comfort of my home.

I can’t write about the word explore without giving an honorable mention to my favorite explorer Captain James Tiberius Kirk of the starship Enterpriser. As each show began, we would hear the narrator say “Space…the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.” Each week Captain Kirk, along with Mr. Spock, “Bones”, Mr. Sulu, and “Scotty” would take us to a new world far far away and let get a glimpse of what life might be like on other planets.

Yes, I’m a Trekie, and am looking forward to the new movie due out in December 2008. When I say I’m a Trekie, that only refers to the original Star Trek TV series and movies. I was never able to accept the spin-offs from the original series.

Snap ... I liked your first idea !Yours was first H or T's I came upon after I posted mine ... I was going to write about my 15 months old twins exploring but I didn't have any photos, to post, to match and I couldn't have articulated it nearly as well as you have.I love the way you have said it.
I also thought about goggle (not google earth) but couldn't articulate it !
You are on your own with Star Trek - I haven't watched it in years but I did like it.

A good post for this weeks meme. I love watching babies explore also. It's just a great feeling to see them finding out about things. I also like star trek too. I have all the movies on dvd. Oh, bridge day is on our list of things to see also. I almost went there (not on bridge day) to see the bridge a number of years ago while seeing the New River Gorge, but it was getting late and I had other family with me and they were tired lol.

Oh, yes, I forgot about babies, they are the true EXPERTS on exploring - seeing everything with such fresh eyes!!!!

...and they very often say so refreshing things when they get older too!

Wonderful post :-)

When my oldest grandson was just walking, he would always entertain himself by playing with the touch lamps in our bedroom. :)

And blogging and the internet is such a journey all the time!

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.. or one. I'm a little trekkie, too. :)

Oh, I know what you mean. When my son was a baby, he was fascinated with his surroundings. He loved exploring so people in the house were in constant watch. He's now 4 years old. He still loves to explore but now he understands the concept of areas that are safe and those that are off limits.

I agree, blogging is a wonderful medium to explore the world and meet different interesting people.

A new ST movie??? FOR REAL??

Last time, I took Daughter 2 and sis-in-law and they totally didn't get it. All the innuendo, jokes, they had NO knowledge of it! Yet I raised that girl.

I did a bad job.
