Woman to Woman

This is my first Woman to Woman post. When I first found this meme I knew I wanted to participate. I immediately did my book report shortly after finishing Dark Harbor, but then forgot about it until I was out reading blogs. I ran back here so I could get my report up.

Dark Harbor by Stuart Woods is the first book I’ve read by this author. When I popped over to Amazon to grab a copy of the book cover, I read a few of the reviews and discovered his fans do not consider this one of his best novels.

Dark Harbor in one in a series of books about Stone Barrington who is an ex-cop and now a lawyer and consultant to the CIA. This book opens as Stone receives word about a murder/suicide of his cousin Dick Stone, his wife and child. This takes Stone from New York to Dark Harbor, Maine where his cousin lived. Stone had not seen or talked with his cousin since they were children except for a brief dinner a couple weeks before. Stone learns that he has inherited his cousin’s house and is named executor of his will with very precise instructions for dividing his estate. Dick’s brother, who also lives in Dark Harbor, is not happy with the will.

Upon investigating the circumstances of Dick’s death, Stone learns that he was a CIA agent. Stone brings in a couple of his friends, Dino Bacchetti a NYPD Lt., CIA agent Lance Cabot, and his girlfriend Holly Barker to Dark Harbor to help him solve this mystery.

I found the mystery to be fast moving and not as predictable as some of the reviewers stated. It was a short easy read. I will read other books by this author.

I now have a couple errors I have to do, but I'll be back to visit later this afternoon.

Sounds like a good book. Thanks for the nice write up. I love knowing if a book is going to be good or not and coming from you..i figure it is good. We just returned from our trip to illinois/Indiana. I read one book going up and one book coming home. Two completely different ones but both of them very good. Hope all is well with you..Sandy
