My dear friend Shirley over at Ma Ma's Place gave me this lovely award a few days ago. I apologize for taking so long to post it. Shirley and I are almost neighbors and would have never met without blogging. She's a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She just received a new great grandbaby a couple weeks ago. You can see we have a lot in common. I hope one day this summer we will finally meet. It is such an honor to receive this award..... thank you Shirley.

Here is what is said about the recipients of this award.“These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated.lease give more attention to these writers." Deliver this award to a few bloggers who must choose a few more bloggers and include the message.

It is so hard to select only a few bloggers for this award because I feel all the blogs I read are so deserving. I will select only three, but I want all my regular readers to feel free to take this award. Just let me know and I'll stop by.

First is Marsha at Just Some Thoughts. Marsha and I have so much in common. I wish we didn't live so far apart. She lives in Louisiana and I'm here is West Virginia. I believe we met doing a weekly meme. After reading her posts I found we have so much in common. Children and grandchildren and photography. I have learned so much from her.

Next is Renie at Renie Burghardts World. Renie lives in "The Woods" and shares many pictures of the beautiful wild life that lives out her back door. She is a freelance writer who shares many of her entertaining short stories on her blog.

And the third award goes to Renee at Three Peas In A Pod. When Renee and I met through blogging there was an instant friendship. Renee homeschools her two boys and works as a hospice nurse parttime. Renee is a child of God has a tremendous love of home and family and is a great friend.

Thought I would let you all know what's been happening in my world. Two weeks ago I had an appointment with my dermatologist to have, what I thought were moles, removed from my right shoulder blade. These things came on fast. I first noticed one in mid January and the second one in February. They continued to grow so I thought I better have them removed. As I said I thought they was moles. My doc shaved them and the biopsy came back squamous cell. They had an opening last Thursday to have them surgically removed. I was told my insurance would only pay for one, but if I came back the next week to have the other one surgically removed my insurance would pay the 80%. I had the first surgery on Thursday and I'll have the next one tomorrow. When I called my insurance to check on this I was tempted to ask if I needed triple by-pass would I need to have them done with three separate surgeries.

I'm hoping my dermatologist has the results from Thursday's surgery. If the cancer has not gone into my lymph nodes I'll be fine.

It was beautiful here over the weekend. This past week I bought I swing with a canopy for my back deck. Hubby and I put it together on Sunday and enjoyed the early evening enjoying the swing. My dog was very curious about the "thing" on the deck. I encouraged her to jump up with me. She was unsure of the motion, but then laid down very close to me and enjoyed the ride. Last night a cold spell moved in and we may get snow flurries tonight and tomorrow. I guess this will be our Easter storm.

ps: I has taken me over an hour to get this post accepted with Blogger. Don't know what I've been doing. Let's hope when I hit publish this time it will goooooo.

My dear Friend Carolyn blessed me with this lovely award. To translate the gift from Portuguese to English, it means:"This blog invests and believes, the proximity"[meaning, that blogging makes us 'close' -being close through proxy] How awesome is that??

"They all are charmed with the blogs, where in the majority of its aims are to show the marvels and to do friendship; there are persons who are not interested when we give them a prize, and then they help to cut these bows; do we want that they are cut, or that they propagate?

Then let's try to give more attention to them! So with this prize we must deliver it to 8 bloggers that in turn must make the same thing and put this text.

Carolyn, thank you so very much for thinking of me and I appreciate your friendship so much!!

So, I want to pass this award on to the following 8 bloggers.

Renee'

Baba

Cheryl

Gill

Patti

Daisy

Marsha

Betty

Tina

On another note, I want to let all the bloggers in Ike's path know,
you are in my prayers.

Award and Toast

My dear friend Renee` @ Two Peas in Pod gave me this award last week. Thank you so much!! I hope my blog has been a positive impact on you, I know yours has for me!!!

This award originated with Maria . Here’s what she has shared as her goals for this award:

It’s my hope that you will each pass this award on to 5 people who have impacted you by their blogging. There’s no rules except that I hope you enjoy your award. Share it if you like. Not everybody has the time to do all that entails, so don’t sweat it if you’re not into that…

I would like to pass this award along to everyone on my sidebar, because each one of you have had a positive impact on me through your blogging. That is why you are on my sidebar!

<><><><><><><>

Saturday afternoon was spent with my son, his wife and their daughter. Katie is my step granddaughter and is as cute as can be. She turned 7 in January and is in the 1st grade. Seems like when I spend time with her I learn so much.

I just have to share with you a song she introduced me to. It is so very funny. The song is by Heywood Banks (real name Stuart Mitchell) who is comedian and song parodist. He frequently appears on the nationally syndicated radio program "The Bob and Tom Show." His most popular and widely-known song is called "Toast". The first video is by Heywood Banks and the second one has graphic and I think is done by Bob and Tom. I hope you enjoy!

The Daily Dose

A few days ago I received this great award from Renee'. Whenever I receive an award I'm curious about how and why it was developed. This award was developed by Xandra from Called According to His Purpose. In Xandra's words "its for blogs that I must read everyday without fail.....They make you laugh, cry, think and feel connected every time you read a post. They give you a thrill as you see them loading into your browser and you get an equally satisfying thrill when you see that they have commented on your blog".

All the blogs on my sidebar and several more give me this thrill! Whenever I received an award and am asked to share with my favorite bloggers, I 'm so afraid I will hurt someone's feelings if I don't include them. Therefore, I am going to share this with everyone on my sidebar and give honorable mention to the following:

I must include Renee' because we have become great buddies though blogging. Not only visiting through our blogs, there are the occasional personal emails to share thoughts we would not want to include in an open forum.

Another dear friend is Sandy who is gaining the title of "Curves Queen"! A couple days ago she signed up 5 new members simultaneously. Wow!! We have so much in common and if it wasn't for the physical distance between us, I know we would be best buddies out of this virtual world of blogging.

Right now Barb aka Baba and I share the anticipation of a new grandchild. Both of our daughters are due in February. The race is on to see which baby will arrive first. When they do arrive, our blogs will be filled with new pictures.

Now back to another request about this award. Xandra has asked everyone who receives this award to sign her linky so she can come visit with us. While I was at her site, I took a little time checking out a few blogs who have already received this award. It never ceases to amaze me all the wonderful women out there blogging.

Ladies, enjoy your award and I will continue to look forward to reading your next post!

The Colors of Friendship

I was recently awarded "The Colors of Friendship" by Theresa at Theresa’s Life .
Here is what she said about me:

As you might of guessed I like to share the awards just with one person, and I thought if I got to meet just one of my blogger friends who would that be-I thought this questions would be easy -but that didn't help me narrow it down so I went a different route.

So I decided to give it to "Vanetta Not Black" of {this & that}, we share the love of John Denver music, geometry pictures, and yes she too has a good sense of humor!

If you are wondering what "Vanetta Not Black" refers to, you can read this post.

Theresa, thank you so much for this award. Theresa is one of the nicest friends I have met and she is absolutely amazing. Within the past couple weeks she has been quite the traveler, traveling to Las Vegas and New York. She also has a great love for sailing. I think that would be awesome.

This coming week is going to be very busy for most of us; therefore, I'm not going to pass this award along to anyone in particular. I consider everyone in my blogroll very colorful individuals and worthy of this award. I am presenting it to all of you if you wish to accept. I consider you all friends that I truly cherish.

2 Awards!!

A very dear friend has bestowed 2 fabulous awards on me this week. Renee has given me the Wonder Woman Award and the Blog Friends Forever Award. I feel so honored to be given both of these wonderful awards. Thank you so much Renee!!!

I want to alert my readers that Renee's has changed her blog from Renee's Ramblings to 2 Peas In Pod. Be sure to bookmark her new address.

Now on with the awards.

This first one is the Wonder Woman Award. I don't know who started this award or the intent behind passing it along, but here is what Renee had to say about me.

She’s amazing. She has gone through happy and sad times in her life, has hit monumental milestones in her life and she has come to the other side of it all with grace and dignity. I read her blog and think, “Wow…this woman is amazing”! Please stop by her blog and read a few of her posts….you’ll see what a wonderful and special lady she is.

Now I'm blushing!!!!

This next award is called Blog Friend Forever Award and is presented to awesome BLOG owners who keep their readers excited about their posts. Their blog post are interesting (NOT spammy) and worth reading and keep their subscribers looking forward to each and every post.

I've been blogging a little over a year and and thrilled over all the wonderful people I've met. It amazes me that you come back to see what's going on this this old lady's life.

There are so many that I would like to give these awards to, but I'm going to limit myself to three:

Marsha

Patti

And to another Linda I recently met. She is Theresa sister-in-law, so stop by and say hello. I'm slighting Theresa by not passing these awards on to her, because she has already received these awards from other bloggers.

Renee, I want to thank you again for these awesome awards and am so honored to know you. You will always be a dear friend.

In honor of the Halloween season, here is a button/award for everyone to give to their favorite readers. Renee of Renee's Ramblings has awarded this award to me. Thanks Renee,I am so honored and think your blog is a "Sweet Treat to Read" also. This award originated with Trista over at The Pumpkin Patch. You can read more about it at her blog.

Here's how it will work:

2. Make sure you inform those who you awarded that they have won!

3. Grab the button and proudly display it in your sidebar for all your old/new readers to see!

On Halloween, we are all greeted by little goblins that we know and many that we don't. In the spirit of the Halloween season, I am going to be giving this award to some of my favorite bloggers and a couple I don't know. You Make Me Smile Award

Just look what a sweet award I received from Carolyn at Talk With Grams. Carolyn, you sweet thing, you always make me smile when I come to visit with you. Thank you so much.

Let me provide you with a little background on how this award began.

Bridget over at and Miles to go Before We Sleep created this award and wrote the following ......

The thing that I love most about blogging is that I learn so much about a person just by reading their blog. I have met MANY wonderful people with wonderful stories to tell and I am grateful every day for each person that I have the pleasure of crossing paths in life with.I wanted to create something special for the top ten people who have inspired me through their blogging; the stories they tell and the lives that they lead with grace and dignity. I visit their blogs for inspiration and encouragement.Although there are MANY people I want to give this award to at this very moment, I am going to choose ten bloggers:Please grab your badge and wear it proudly, and pass it on because you inspire and encourage me, thank you.

Comlying with Bridget's wishes, Carolyn presented me this award. And, in turn I would like to pass the award along to the following who have touched me in so many ways, lifted me up and made me a smile. Thank you Carolyn!!

Rockin' Girl Blogger

Gracie over at Echoes of Grace tagged me as a Rockin’ Girl Blogger. I can’t believe it either!!!!. Guess I’m a lot more cool than I thought. Thanks Gracie, I am soooo honored. Here’s what Gracie had to say about me:

Linda, of "This and That," is going through a rough time of it right now. But her spirit is strong and I know she'll persevere! Let her know we all look out for one another and let her know you'll be thinking about her in the days ahead and pop in and say "hi!" She recently found that which was lost and is delighted to show her daughter her baby photos, which she had never seen before! Linda is one of our Rockin' Girls!

Gracie, thank you for your kind words.

I must tell everyone here that tomorrow is Gracie's Birthday! She is turning 60!!!! Please stop by and wish her a Happy Birthday!!!

One thing I must learn, when given an award, don’t wait to make your nominations. Two of the girls I planned on nominating were given the award over the weekend. Here are my choices.

My first choice goes to Gattina over at Writers Cramp who lives in Belgium with hubby and their four cats. It is so much fun visiting Gattina and seeing what her felines are into that day. Gattina has a wonderful sense of humor that brighten my day each time I visit. She recently returned from a vacation to Turkey where she posted lots of wonderful pictures of her trip. You definitely need to read about her adventures when you stop by.

My next choice would have to be Renee at Renee's Ramblings. I think I found Renee through Friday’s Feast and have continued to enjoy visiting with her. She is always posting great recipes that are so yummy. She also has a recipe blog and a home schooling blog. Be sure to stop by and I’m sure you will want to visit Renee again and again.

Another blog I enjoy is Cozy ReaderJane is the wife of a Methodist minister which is probably what brought me back to her blog after my first visit since my brother was a minister. I love Jane’s editorial comments about the “rich and famous”. We share many of the same views on this topic. Jane is certainly a Rockin’ Blogger.

My next would be Annie of Hootin Annie . I met Annie when I joined Bloggers of 50. Even though I don’t know Annie well, I enjoying popping in from time to time, especially to see what she is doing with her blog designs.. She creates all her own templates. You will see how clever she is when you stop by. Right now her design is a tribute to the 4th of July which really rocks.

As I said earlier, two of my favorite ladies were already chosen, so I leave the 5th nomination to anyone who reads my blog. Simply grap the banner and add to your blog. Just leave me a note and I'll recogize you here. Have fun.

Thinking Blogger Award

I received a wonderful surprise from Anni, otherwise known as Hootin' Annie. She chose my blog as one of her five choices for the "Thinking Blogger Award." I never thought as myself as a "thinking" blogger before because my stuff goes up with thoughts off the top of my head. Then I'm scrambling with spell check and reading to make sure the stuff makes sense. I am so honored to receive this award. Thanks again Annie.

The second part of this award is to "THINK" of five other blogs to present the Thinking Blogger Award upon. So many blogs I read already have been honored with this award, but I think you will agree with my choices.

1. Mary, over at Snit n’ Knit has a comedic approach to knitting with her stories that really knock my socks off. She posts lots of pictures showing her progress or lack of ;)

I first met Mary about 10 years ago-- oh my, has it been that long? -- in hyperspace. We began emailing and have become friends through the internet. We have not yet met, but have talked about it a lot. Mary, like me, is new to blogging and probably doesn’t think of herself as a thinker, but she definitely is in order to knit one purl two or was that knit two, purl one?
Be sure to stop by and say hi.

2. I just found Olive last week and she has become one of my must read BLOBs (that is not a typo – you’ll find out on your visit to Life of Riley). Ollie, as she called, is a 107 year young Aussie lady who is documenting her memorable life with the help of her friend Mike. If anyone deserved a Thinking Blogger award its Ollie.

With only 12 posts, this is probably one of the most popular blogs on the internet. This lady has certainly made me think about my own life and has given me such a new and fulfilling outlook on my future. Thank you Ollie.

3. Bev, over at Blessed Beyond Measure, is a happy empty nester with three children and four grandchildren. Bev shares stories of her daily life, her family and reflects on years past. A very well written positive blog you won’t want to miss.

4. Blog surfing wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Flip Flop Floozie, aka Sandy. There was no thinking why I chose this blog. Sandy and I seem to have so much in common. Her blog clearly reflects her love of family, cats and life. Sandy is a deep thinker and a great place to visit.

5. Echoes of Grace. This was a no-thinker. Gracie and I will be celebrating a common exciting event this year. It has to do with our birthdays. I’ll let you figure it out. Gracie is a seasoned blogger who shares her appreciation of our troops, her love of family and her Shih tzu, Katie. She has an incredible sense of humor and is able to roll with the punches that life throws at her. I’m never disappointed when I visit her.

I am so very pleased to be able to present the following
Thinking Blogger Award!!
