Christmas that Wasn't

Our Christmas didn't go as we had planned. I have been looking forward to my daughter and the grandbabies coming home for Christmas. Well, that didn't happen. On Christmas Eve Nicole called and said she just couldn't get it together to come in. Her husband's parents are going to be flying in there on Monday and she felt they wouldn't have time to make the trip here and get back and get prepared for their visit. I can see how so many people fall into depression during the holidays. Her Dad decided to make a quick trip to Charlotte to take all our gifts for the kids. I included a few homemade goodies. Last night I got an email from Nicole which said she had just eaten a piece of the peanut butter fudge I had sent and she closed her eyes and pretended she was sitting in my kitchen. That made her very homesick.

On Christmas day I went over to my son's house and had dinner with them and Amber's parents and grandmother. Hubby was under the weather. Kati was thrilled with her gifts. One thing Amber's Mom and I are going to have to do is start communicating about what we plan to buy for Kati because we both got her a Razer scooter. What we decided was Katie would keep one at home and one at her other MawMaw's.

Last night was my extended family get together. After eating and visiting for awhile we got into a lively game of Imagine. That was a fun evening. I'll post pictures sometime over the weekend.
Right now I'm getting ready for my nieces' wedding. The wedding is being held at her house and only close friends and family are invited. This is wedding #3. She said she sure hopes she gets this one right. hehe!!! Mark, the guy she is marrying in great, easy going and loves Terrie very much. I think this one is a keeper. I'll have those pictures too.

Got to run!!!

Hi Linda,

I'm sorry your daughter couldn't come, but it sounds like your Christmas was nice. Hope your hubby is feeling better.

My Christmas was very nice as well, and today I had some friends over, and tomorrow evening is our Christmas Buffet at my church, and then all the festivities will be over for another year.

I'm looking forward to your pictures. Have a great Sunday.

Hugs and blessings,

Renie

Oh how frustrating Linda! It sounds like you were able to make the most of it and get out to see other family and friends.

I hope your hubby is feeling better.

Blessings,

Susan

I' sorry to hear that your Christmas wasn't as family oriented as you planned. That's disappointing, and hubby sick too. I'm glad you had your son to visit.

Well it was too bad that your daughter could not be with you on Christmas..Guess not everything can happen like we want it too. We finally got our car dolly fixed so now we can travel back home. WE are still here in Illinois at our daughter's home. If the weather is better tomorrow we are taking off...

Making the best of things when they don't go as planned takes effort, but it looks like that's what you did. I hope you get to spend time together soon.
Hugs and blessings,
