A couple weeks ago our wave pool opened a dog park that allows the dogs to run free without a leash. Isn't this a great idea? Another dog park will be opening on the other side of the county later this fall. A friend and I decided to meet here and walk late Sunday afternoon.

Big Red and Duke met at the park, and Big Red is challenging Duke to a race.
(The dogs names were changed to protect their identity)

Here they are coming out of the first turn.

Big Red takes an early lead.

Oh no, they didn't expect that fence to be in their way.

Watch, watch, we have to make a turn here.

Big Red wins the race!!!

We also met this precious 12 week old Maltese named Sugar. When I asked if I could take her picture her humans wanted in the shot too. I didn't get the names of the humans, but aren't they cute. They were at the park fishing and letting Sugar run around at the pond. She is certainly too small to run with Big Red and Duke.

After taking in the dog race my friend and I walked the trails for about 45 minutes. If I would do this at least 3 times a week I may loose a pound by the end of the year.

I didn't know that they had such places for dogs to run. How nice! There are lots of big dogs cooped up in houses and not able to exercise. The dogs around here are on leash and the poor things never run. This is a wonderful thing for the doggies.

Hi Linda,

What a nice place to walk and let the dogs run free. Plus have a place for the dogs keeps them off the walking trail. I've often thought about how the poor dogs do not have a place to run and play. What a great idea. And you captured some very interesting pictures of the dog race.

In reply to the comment you just left for me, I agree it is a good idea to check out our new doctor's background as to his schooling, etc. From his knowledge of diabetes, it seems he specializes in that field, which is the one Ed is most concerned about.

Take care and have a good week, Linda.

Yea I am like you...probably only loose 1 lb! Have you seen that commercial on TV (cartoon). The lady is trying to loose weight and she is drinking water and trying and trying. He hubby sits there and is losing it right in front of her..she pours her water into the dog bowl and he looses weight!! I always think that is just like me trying and trying..Sandy

Hi Linda,

What a great idea! And the doggies look like they are having so much fun. Love the pictures. The humans with the maltese are adorable, just like their Sugar!

Umm, I don't have a weight issue, but I do walk daily to stay that way. That is a great place to walk, or even join the dogs in a race. :-)

Have a nice week.

Hugs,

Renie

I wish we had a dog park here. I take Ginger to a local community center and let her run and play in one of the practice fields just for a change of scenery but she's still on her own. She would love to play with other dogs.

Hi Linda,
We have a wonderful dog park not far from us, and it is well used! It is adjacent to a skateboard park and one of the most popular in the area.
