Quick Update

I never heard from the urologist office yesterday, so I called early this morning to learn the results of my ultrasound. The nurse/receptionist told me she could not give me any information, and said the doctor would call me during the lunch hour. My immediate thought was, this must be bad. Without jumping to conclusions, I patiently waited for the doctor's call.

To my surprise, he called about 12:30 and told me they did not find any cancer cells. Yippee!!! But, here's the big BUT, he wants me to have a CAT scan and the internal exam. I asked why. He told me he saw something suspicious on my kidney and he would not be able to totally rule out everything without the CAT scan. I asked if this needed to be done immediately, because I have a sick daughter in Charlotte. He said I could wait a couple weeks, but don't put it off for months.

OK, here's what I think. He is probably thinking, here's a woman with good health insurance, why not milk her dry. I feel specialists run far too many tests just so they can bill your insurance and get paid more. No wonder health care costs are rising with the speed of light. I am going to think about this carefully. I'm not rich, and my out of pocket is going to be more than I really care to pay. This suspicious thing is probably nothing more that a small cyst like the technician said.

My daughter is still feeling bad and unable to keep anything down. She goes back to the hypnotist on Saturday. If she isn't feeling better immediately after this next session, I'll be going to Charlotte on Sunday and staying the week. I would plan on staying longer, but my husband's family is coming in for a big family reunion.
You will be proud, I went to Curves again today. I'm really on a roll. The other ladies are about my age and are jumping up and down like 20 year olds. Give me a couple months, and I'll show them I can do that too!!!!

Wow! Looks like all you lady's are going to curves!!This is great!
I know what you mean about the specialist, Nancy has lupus and she has more test done sometimes then I think she should!
We go to 5 specialist and with each one of them ordering a test it can get crazy!! I try to keep them all on the same page!!! If I can.
Keeping you and Nicole in my prayers.

Great news from the doctor....woo hoo! Sure hope your daughter is doing better. I will certainly keep her in my prayers.

I'll pray for wisdom for you too concerning the extra testing. Have you asked if there are others tests that aren't as expensive that can give him the information he needs?

Daisy had a great suggestion! A lot of the time a doctor will work with you if they know you don't have adequate insurance! I'm just so thankful that there was no cancer present...
I know there are some cases of fraud out there, but I've been lucky to have some pretty good MD's. And remember, you want to be around for your kids...

Gracie..I have great health insurance. That's why I'm afraid these tests my not be necessary. I want to find out what each these tests will disclose then have another conversation with the doctor. I really appreciate your concern.
